    Description

    Book Description:
    Earl Chapin May,
Century of Silver—1847-1947—Connecticut Yankees and a Noble Metal.
New York: Robert M. McBride, 1947, 388 pages.
    Stated First Edition.
Original dust jacket chipped along margins and price clipped. Black title on gray boards. Illustrated throughout. Tight binding and clean pages throughout. Illustrations of trade marks. Overall in very good condition. May’s account is that of the history of Yankee silversmiths, along with colorful accounts of New England peddlers and salesmen who distributed their silver products by horse and wagon.
This particular copy belonged to Maxine Tull Boatner, whose bookplate is attached to the inside cover and whose review of the book is tipped in the rear. The book is inscribed to Boatner and signed by both May and his wife, Stella Burke May as thanks for her review in the
    Hartford Courant.
Also tipped in is a newspaper article about the Mays.
