  • Condition: New uncirculated quarters mostly direct from US Mint sets (there were not mint sets for each of the years represented…no regular mint sets produced in 1965 - 1967 and in 1982 - 1983). While all of these coins are BU having mostly come directly from US Mint Sets some may exhibit some toning, usually golden tinges, given some have been in mint set plastic packaging for decades. Some of the coins may also exhibit some spotting and other minor imperfections as even coins direct from the mint and mint sets are not perfect coins and should not be expected to be perfect coins.

    1965 - 1998 COMPLETE Washington Quarter 63 P&D Mint Clad BU Uncirculated Coin Set Mostly Direct from US Mint Sets
    Up for sale is a complete Philadelphia and Denver 1965 - 1998 Washington Quarter 63 coin COMPLETE Set (over the years 1965 - 1998).   This set includes ALL of the regular business strike quarters minted from 1965 (when clad coinage began) through 1998 (when the year after, in 1999, the State Quarter Program began).  Most all of these coins have been sourced from US Mint sets which tend to have a higher quality than original bank rolls.  Regular mint sets were not issued in 1965 - 1967 nor from 1982 - 1983.  Note that there were no 1975 dated quarters as the 1976 bicentennial design was used in both 1975 and 1976.
    There are number of interesting coins in this set to include:
    1) 1965 - 1967 quarters with no mint marks (and therefore there are only one quarter each in the years 1965 - 1967).  After the run on silver coinage in 1964 and the changeover in mint production from mostly silver production (prior to 1965) to clad production (1965 and thereafter) the US Mint decided to “punish” collectors who were “hoarding” silver coinage.  As a result there were no mint marks on coinage from 1965 through 1967, there were no regular mint sets these years and no regular proofs either.  In lieu of regular proofs the mint issued Special Mint Sets (SMS) with coins that were not quite proofs.  Note the SMS quarters are not included in this set as I include them in the “proof” quarter set I sell.
    2) 1982 P&D and 1983 P&D Uncirculated quarters - In the years 1982 and 1983 the mint did NOT produce mint sets where many higher quality uncirculated coins are sourced.  Therefore uncirculated 1982 and 1983 P&D quarters are relatively scarce and relatively expensive (current pricing 1982 P , 1982 D , 1983 P and 1983 D or over for those quarters alone if purchased individually).
    This is a nice quality set of Washington Quarters for a very reasonable price especially given the uncirculated 1982 P&D and 1983 P&D coins.  Included in this set are the following 63 Uncirculated coins:
