This is a
quality American-Made Knife
with a
stacked leather washer handle
&
reflective fixed blade
, and is from my personal collection.
The
blade and finger guard stamping
indicate that this
: Western USA  L48A knife
was most likely
manufactured between 1967 -
1976.
Remember, "back in their day" these older knives were purchased to be used…
Not
collected, making this

difficult to find.

WESTERN  U.S.A.  knife has a slender  4.5" blade that
features a
1  7/8"
long top false edge"
which
could be sharpened if desired

The vintage fixed blade is

irror-like
and has a few light surface scratches, tiny surface age specks,
and some nice light patina, normal for being decades old.  There are
No
noticeable
blade edge nicks on the
clip-point knife
.

blade that
appears straight.

This early hunting knife has a
tightly stacked Leather washer handle

The
heavy-duty
brass
finger guard
measures
1   1/8" long
and is secure, and the knife has
No looseness.
The
brass
and
aluminum
fittings
are in
Exceptionally Good
vintage condition
and the
leather washer handle is tight
and has
some light signs of handling or use
. The handle tang has some tiny surface age specks, and this easy-to-grip handle has
secure
black
,
dark red
spacers,
and
off-white
spacers
.

This Western USA hunting knife is in "Very Good Vintage Condition" and feels well balanced and solid, when held in your hand.
SHEATH
:
The
Western Oak Leaf and Acorn tooled
leather sheath
is included and is
Very Good Condition.
The sheath (or case) has
intact stitching
and
measures  8  1/4" long
.
There are
secure shiny metal rivet
s,
belt loop
,
stiff throat area,
and
secure fastening strap
with working
metal snap
. This well-made
sheath shows some light signs of handling or light use.
The
Western factory tooled
leather sheath
fits the small-game knife very well and offers secure carrying while in the field.

The old knife

a lot of character and vintage appeal....with that "patina of time" appearance not yet achieved with newer knives
