    Washington Quarter are minted from 1932 – present and have a diameter of 24.3mm. From 1932-1964 the Washington Quarter was minted of .900 Fine Silver and .100 Copper. From 1965-present all Washington Quarters minted for circulation were minted of copper/nickel. Designed by John Flanagan, a New York sculptor.  His initials, JF, can be found at the base of Washington’s Neck. This coin was intended to be a commemorative issue marking the two-hundredth anniversary of Washington’s birth.
