ca. 1840. C.F.W. Knopf was one of the most interesting and finest old German masters. His work sometimes inspired and has similarities with French
contemporaries
like Etienne Pajeot and Nicolas Maire. This is a very beautiful example made from a superior choice of pernambuco,
suitable for a fine violist
. It is in excellent state of preservation, ready to play.
The stick is superb red brown pernambuco, octagonal
, strong with excellent flexibility, solo level sound and handling
. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 73.25
cm and the weight of the bow is 69 g.
