    Description

This item came from my grandparents estate. I know nothing about antique knives but I do know quality and this piece is definitely quality.
The minute I picked it up and pulled the knife from the sheath, and put it in my hand… I knew this was something that felt very skillfully made. It fits my hand beautifully. The grip feels awesome and natural. This feels like a true survivor knife.
The sheath is beautiful. It has some patina yet it’s old So make sure you look at the photographs for the patina. It is quality made and strong. I am not an expert in bone but I could imagine those dangly pieces on the sheath could be bear claws but I am not sure. But they sure look tough and rugged. The sheath has a very tight snap pocket… I don’t know what you would use this for but it’s there… See pics
The only cleaning I did was to wipe off some of the dirt off of the blade. I am not sure how to clean something like this so I left it in as found condition pretty much…It looks stained… Possibly light rust but I’m not sure… The edge looks nice with no gouges yet could use a hone . It’s sharp but not razor sharp and I’m sure this knife would be pretty awesome with a superb edge.
Please look at the blade… It has a pattern in it something like Damascus steel might be but I don’t know steel so please look at the photographs with the pattern in the steel. I’m sure once this is cleaned up… If it could be cleaned up… I don’t know… It should look pretty awesome.
I don’t know if it is signed. There’s some kind of mark on the brass part. I show this in the photographs
The deer carving is pretty cool. Pretty primitive but very neat.
I have my own opinion about this piece. I call it the Davy Crockett knife or Daniel Boone knife… Because it is pure American… It looks pretty old… And it is ready for the wilderness once you sharpen it and clean it a bit.
Mainly… Just look at the photographs. Trust that it is a solid quality knife with an awesome as pictured original sheath. Please read the captions. I am right on top of it taking notes.
I’ll pack this knife with care. Exactly as pictured, as found, will need minor cleanup and sharpening… As is…
In my opinion… Very Cool knife. Thank you, John
