Based on its distinctive blade shape and sheath, this appears to be an antique Moro Barong blade from the large island of Mindanao in the Philippines. These knives are carried even today by Moro Pirates.  The blade is blacksmith made, and dates to c. 1900 or before.  The wooden sheath is hand carved.
"Black Jack" Pershing and General Leonard Wood went up against the Moros in 1902 in a war that lasted from 1899-1913.  Pershing was 40 years old at the time.  Pershing offered the Maranoa Warriors either an iron fist or a velvet glove depending on whether or not they surrendered. Leonard Wood believed the only good Moro was a dead Moro and was ruthless in the war.  This is a little known war that lasted a long time and many are unaware of it.
