    Description

This 9 by 4 inch blotter is from Simon's Cut-Rate Toy Store in Plainfield, New Jersey. It advertises 25% off Lionel Trains and has a drawing of the Skeeter Skate Skooter. The Skooter was introduced in 1945. It had a removeable handle, pedal car type wheels and a steering axle which allowed riders to turn. It's considered a precursor to the skate board.  I found references to this store from 1942 to 1949. The 1950 city directory for Plainfield had another toy store at this address.  The card has some small ceases and a light pencil mark.
