Description

Four Norwegian, or Swedish knife sheaths found over 40 years of my collecting.  A lot of times sheaths missing when knives found. Here a four nice early Scandinavian 19th C. examples that would look good in a collection. All with original patina.  Untouched.
1. Brass sheath with very old belt strap. Has light engraving on the front. Nothing on the back.  Brass very darkened by patina on bottom but no cracks.  Tiny hole at bottom of sheath on the back Solid. Sheath is 6 1/2 inches long. No wood interior. Opening a bit larger than 1 inch on top. More in a oval.
2. Knife has a frog to hold a knife on a belt plus a seperate piece of leather to go over the top of the knife and hold it to a pommel stud on a knife.  Brass frame with formed cow horn inserts. Cow horn much lighter than it looks in the picture. Round ball on bottom of sheath missing. Cracks to the horn on front and back top portion of sheath. A small piece of horn missing on the inside of sheath covered by the top brass. Not visible from outside.  Sheath again is 6 1/2 inches long.
3.Nicely made early nickel silver miniature Scandinavian sheath to hold a small knife.  For a child? Nicely engraved on the front. Leather interior still intact. Excellent condition.  3 1/2 inches long. Opening about 1/2 inches on top. Round in shape
4. Very nice early nickel silver sheath with a leather frog attachment to the sheath. Beautiful wood insert.  Curly Birch? No cracks to the wood.  Very nice condition. 5 1/2 inches long. Opening about 1 inch. Oval in shape.
