    Description

I will combine shipping on multiple wins. Please allow me time after an auction ends to figure the total amount, or you may contact me to request a total once you are all done.
Please note that eBay now adds sales tax to auctions and that USPS rates went up recently. I do my best to keep costs down, but I have no control over other entities. Thanks.
Unusual old knife that was being used as a kitchen knife but looks like it may have been around at the start of the 1900's - but really hard to tell. I think it is hand made, though even that is questionable since it could have been repaired, cut down from a longer blade, or just made as you see it. It has a plain carbon steel blade set into a slot in a solid wood handle, reinforced with a steel ferrule at the front and a steel pin through the tang near the butt. There is a crack at the bottom of the slot that doesn't come all the way through to the other side, and it feels tight and solid. Sides of handle are flattened. Blade surface was pretty rough when I got it, so I smoothed it down with some sandpaper from 36 grit to 400 grit. It isn't great - you can still see plenty of marks on both sides of blade - but it is a lot better than when I came across it. I thought of this one as a "diamond in the rough." (It's going to need a lot more "polishing" to truly "shine.") I think blade was brazed to ferrule. I tried to take enough pictures to give you a good idea of the condition. No markings. As with all wood handled knives, should not be put into a dishwasher. Should be dried after hand washing, and a drop of food grade mineral oil from the pharmacy section will preserve the metal.  Measures 8-1/4" overall, 4" from tip to handle.
Contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for looking, and good luck!
Note: Payment required within 3 days of auction ends or eBay will begin an Unpaid Item case.
Note to bidders outside of U.S. - I generally ship using eBay's Global Shipping Program after having problems with every other method. It is a dependable service, with all Customs fees paid up front.
Once I put this into the mail, I cannot provide any information beyond U.S. tracking. I will not offer a refund for non-delivery. Please keep this in mind when you bid.
    Thank you very much.
