Description
This knife was owned in the 1960s and beyond by Silver Star winner Capt. John D. Carr of Belfast, ME. His name is stamped on the blade and on the sheath, which carries the numbers 3 and 6 on the rear. Knife comes with a nice stag handle with grips, a brass hilt and brass butt with lanyard holes. It has a cool custom look and is about 10 5/8 inches long overall with a 6-inch blade. Comes with a sharpening stone. I'm calling the blade carbon steel but I don't know for sure.CONDITION: Excellent. All original. Solid as a rock. There is some tarnish on the brass pieces, including an area on the hilt with some green verdigris. It’s easy to clean. You can see it in Photo 10. There is also some verigris on the inside of the snap strap on the sheath.
To learn how Capt. John D. Carr of Belfast ME won the Silver Star in 1968, please read the description online. I found it in a site called

or just Google "John D Carr, Belfast ME". Mr. Carr retired several years ago as a Colonel. Thank you for your service, Sir!
