Don't let the low price fool you! This is a high quality viola! If you bought this viola in a store venue, you'd pay twenty thousand USD or more. But if my low price still bothers you, then feel free to pay me what you would have to pay in a brick and mortar store!
How does it sound and how well does it play
?
It has a rich tone and a quick response—a nice tone that carries well in mid-sized hall. The timbre is refined and sophisticated, not at all commensurate with the low price! One would have to pay a lot more for a viola with similar characteristics.
This attractive viola is covered in a delightful orange, translucent varnish as you can see. It projects a strong, lush sound, and it's modest size of just under 16 inches (15.98 in.) makes it an ideal instrument for those seeking comfort without sacrificing quality of tone or power to project that tone.
Bottom line: It's a very nice viola!
You won't find this quality in a viola at this price in any store anywhere in North America
.
You can get the violin appraised before you buy it if you'd like. My luthier can appraise the viola for you. You can call him and get his opinion of the viola (Jim Banicki Violins, Vermont). Take the opportunity to get an independent professional opinion at no cost.
30
day trial risk free (except for shipping and insurance) for domestic buyers
.
For
international buyer I can see about getting a sound video done.
Professionally packaged—i.e, hard shell case, box, and wood crate and fully insured.
I have more photos of the viola and iron stamp insignia
, four such stamps are
to be found inside the body of the viola. I'm not claiming this to be an original Bellafontana, but I would not be surprised to learn that it is. If it were certified as such, then the price would be pushing USk. Take a close look: The workmanship on this viola is quite wonderful.
The four stamps are found on the upper and lower blocks, two on each block. The label is signed in blue ink.
Let me know if you have a request or comment.
Currently, the viola is in Essex Vermont with my luthier Jim Banicki. Feel free to call him for his opinion of the tonal quality of the instrument or if you want to set an appointment and go and play the viola yourself to see what I'm talkin' about.
May consider a trade plus cash or straight up trade for a high end bow. All depends on your offer.
For a viola of this caliber, why look in a music store and pay much more than what I am charging? I don't operate with their overhead costs. Talk to my luthier! He will give you full details on this instrument.
